Children’s Rights Queensland (CRQ) will expand children’s rights education across the state thanks to funding to deliver a statewide resource distribution program to more than 2,500 early childhood education and care (ECEC) services across Queensland. An additional $95,000 will fund a grants program for ECEC services to create and deliver locally led projects that educate children and communities about their rights.
This year’s Children’s Week theme is based on Article 42 of the UNCRC: “Everyone should know about children’s rights.” These initiatives will help ensure this becomes a reality for ECEC services across Queensland.
Building on CRQ’s partnership with the Queensland Family and Child Commission, this investment will strengthen a culture of rights, safety, and participation in early learning settings across the state.
Dan Marais, President of Children’s Rights Queensland, said the funding represents a vital investment in children’s rights education at the grassroots level.
“We are deeply grateful for the Queensland Government’s commitment to ensuring every child in Queensland grows up in an environment where their rights are known, understood, and championed,” Mr Marais said.
“This funding will allow CRQ to continue our mission of making children’s rights accessible and meaningful in early childhood settings. It will enable us to reach thousands of early learning services with practical, engaging resources that embed children’s rights into everyday practice. By supporting local projects and educators, we’re helping build a generation of children who understand their rights and feel empowered to have a voice.”
CRQ will roll out the resource distribution and grants programs over the coming months and invites ECEC services across Queensland to stay tuned for more information on how to access materials and apply for grants.
