Cheeky Monkeys Playgroup - Children's Rights Week
October 20, 2025 @ 9am - 11am
53 Springfield Lakes Blvd, Springfield Lakes QLD 4300, Australia Springfield lakes 4300
Celebrating over 4 days, Monday 20th October, Tuesday 21st October, Wednesday 22nd October and Thursday 23rd October 9am-11am YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre will open up our playgroup to the whole of the Greater Springfield Region for a free session of playgroup where children can relax, play and be together!
Our Playgroup will run for 2 hours for children 0-5 and their families. Our Monday session is for Mums and Bubs aged 0-12 months.
Our Playgroup for the week will focus on living with their family, play and have fun, growing up in a clean and healthy environment, staying safe no matter where they are and have a say about the decisions affecting them.
Living with the family:
We will organise a morning tea focused on Children's rights, where we will invite parents, grandparents and special friends. Guests will be encouraged to bring healthy snacks.
Growing up in a clean and healthy environment:
We will be catering a healthy fruit and snacks morning tea for every playgroup session.
As an activity, we will have playdough mats set up promoting healthy foods, for children to create the shapes of healthy foods, to build recognition, with playdough.
Play and have Fun:
Using sand, we will set up a sensory activity where children will play with the play kitchen, use plastic utensils, plastic fruits and vegetables and tea sets to pretend cooking healthy meals and drinks to share with friends and family.
To have a say:
We will have a discussion with the families prior to the week to have their say and suggest any ideas and activities for the Children's rights week celebration. We will create an art project across all four days of playgroup using handprints of children with their names and incorporate the key words from the themes of Children's Week. This will be displayed out the front of our centre.
Staying safe:
We will incorporate 'I Am Me' song and 'Welcome by Barroux' book during our songs and story session on all four days of our playgroup, encouraging discussion about self-awareness and staying safe.
