Copyright Policy
Purpose
The Children’s Rights Alliance Inc., trading as Children’s Rights Queensland (CRQ), is committed to protecting intellectual property rights while promoting access to children's rights education. This policy outlines the ownership, permitted use, and restrictions regarding CRQ’s copyrighted materials.
Commencement
This policy takes effect from 1 July 2025 and supersedes all previous policies, whether documented or not.
Scope
This policy applies to:
- Leadership Team
- Executive
- Employees
- Contractors
- Volunteers
- Members
- External stakeholders engaging with CRQ’s materials
Definitions
- Copyright: Legal protection granted to original works, including text, images, music, videos, digital content, and resources.
- Intellectual Property (IP): All materials created by CRQ, including but not limited to publications, educational resources, artwork, training materials, and multimedia content.
- Licensed Use: Approved use of copyrighted materials under specific agreements or conditions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Executive and Leadership Team: Ensure compliance with copyright laws and oversee intellectual property management.
- Employees and Contractors: Adhere to copyright guidelines and report any potential infringements.
- Volunteers and Members: Use CRQ materials in alignment with this policy and seek approval for broader distribution for non-public materials.
- External Stakeholders: Obtain written permission for the use of copyrighted materials beyond permitted uses.
Policy Statement
Children’s Rights Queensland is dedicated to fostering the ethical use of intellectual property while ensuring access to vital children's rights resources. CRQ acknowledges the importance of intellectual property rights in sustaining the quality and integrity of its educational materials. This policy establishes clear guidelines to support the responsible use and protection of CRQ’s copyrighted content.
Ownership of Copyrighted Material
Children’s Rights Queensland holds the copyright for all original materials developed, published, or distributed by CRQ unless otherwise stated. This includes:
- Educational resources (print and digital)
- Training materials and presentations
- Website content and digital tools
- Videos, music, and creative works
- Research reports and publications
Permitted Use
CRQ encourages the use of its resources to promote children’s rights education. Materials may be used under the following conditions:
- Personal or educational use without modification and with proper attribution to CRQ.
- Non-commercial reproduction for training, workshops, or advocacy, provided materials are not altered and CRQ is acknowledged as the source.
- Use under specific licensing agreements or written permission from CRQ.
Prohibited Use
The following actions are strictly prohibited unless express permission is granted:
- Reproducing, distributing, or modifying materials for commercial purposes.
- Removing CRQ’s branding or copyright notices.
- Adapting, altering, or misrepresenting CRQ’s resources.
- Using materials in a manner that misaligns with CRQ’s mission or misrepresents the organisation.
Requests for Use and Licensing
Requests to use CRQ’s copyrighted materials beyond permitted uses must be submitted in writing here.
Breaches of this policy
Unauthorised use of copyrighted materials may result in:
- Formal notification to cease and desist unauthorised use.
- Legal action if copyright infringement persists.
- Termination of agreements or partnerships with CRQ.
