Event Stallholders Code of Conduct
Purpose
This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all stallholders participating in events hosted by Children’s Rights Queensland. By registering as a stallholder, you agree to uphold the values, safety standards, and guidelines set out below to ensure a positive, respectful, and child-friendly environment for all attendees.
Respect for children’s rights
- Stallholders must actively support and align with the vision, mission and values of Children’s Rights Queensland.
- Products, services, or messaging that directly or indirectly contravene children’s rights or promote harmful practices are strictly prohibited.
- Stallholders are encouraged to promote inclusivity, fairness, and respect for diversity in all interactions.
Safety and wellbeing of children
- Stallholders must ensure that their space, products, and displays are safe for children and families. This includes:
- Ensuring no sharp, hazardous, or harmful objects are within reach of children.
- Avoiding the display or sale of products unless otherwise agreed with the organisers.
- Stallholders must adhere to all applicable child protection laws and safety standards.
- All stallholders are required to hold a valid Certificate of Currency and provide a copy to Children’s Rights Queensland. Please note that in the event of an incident at your stall, your insurance will be the first to respond.
Positive and respectful behaviour
- All stallholders are expected to behave in a courteous, professional, and respectful manner toward event attendees, staff, and volunteers.
- Harassment, bullying, or discriminatory behaviour based on race, gender, age, disability, religion, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated.
- Disagreements must be handled with diplomacy and respect.
Child-safe language and engagement
- Stallholders must use appropriate, respectful, and non-threatening language when interacting with children and their families.
- Stallholders should not engage in any physical or verbal contact that could be misinterpreted as inappropriate.
- If a stallholder is engaging children in activities, these activities should be safe, inclusive, and enriching.
- All stallholders are responsible for ensuring that anyone working on their stall have a valid Working With Children Check.
- Stallholders need to obtain consent from families when taking photographs. They should only be taken on work devices.
Alcohol, tobacco, and substance use
- The sale, display, or promotion of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal substances is strictly prohibited at all Children’s Rights Queensland events.
- Stallholders must not consume alcohol or use tobacco or drugs during the event.
Environmental responsibility
- Stallholders are encouraged to minimise waste and use environmentally friendly products or packaging wherever possible.
- All waste generated by the stall must be responsibly disposed of in designated areas.
Compliance with event guidelines
- Stallholders must read and adhere to all rules and instructions provided by event organisers in the Event Brief which will be distributed in the days prior to the event.
- Stallholders are responsible for maintaining a clean and organised stall throughout the event and during pack-up.
- All promotional materials must be pre-approved by event organisers to ensure alignment with the event’s values and objectives.
Health and Safety Regulations
- Stallholders must follow all health and safety regulations set by the event organisers, including fire safety rules and COVID-19 protocols (if applicable).
- If food or drinks are being served, stallholders must adhere to relevant health and safety standards, including proper food handling and hygiene practices.
Non-Compliance
- Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in the immediate removal of the stallholder from the event, and in some cases, future participation may be restricted.
- Children’s Rights Queensland reserves the right to inspect stalls and address any concerns regarding non-compliance.
By participating as a stallholder, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct to ensure a safe, respectful, and enriching environment for all attendees, especially children and their families.
